ITCV: Anabela, can you share a bit about your background? What sparked your interest in exploring ITC?

Cardoso: My journey began with a natural curiosity about the truth behind the afterlife. However, it was the mourning for my loved ones that truly propelled me into the realm of EVP. I wanted to find a way to connect with them once more.

ITCV: Did you have any mentors guiding you along the way?

Cardoso: I didn’t have a formal mentor. I started this journey with a couple of friends who shared my interest, but we were all learning together.

ITCV: Can you recall your first significant experience with ITC or DRV?

Cardoso: I remember it vividly! My first DRV experience occurred on March 11, 1998. I felt profound emotions, and I've detailed those incredible feelings in several of my books, particularly in Electronic Voices, Contact with Another Dimension?* (2010).

Methodology

ITCV: Could you explain the basic principles behind Direct Radio Voice (DRV) and how it differs from other ITC methods?

Cardoso: DRV doesn’t adhere to strict principles. Instead, it requires experimentation, similar to EVP, with the hope that DRVs will emerge. We use radios as acoustic support, and the voices, which we hear directly, come from the loudspeakers of the radios. It’s crucial to avoid frequencies that transmit regular broadcasts; otherwise, we might misinterpret normal transmissions as anomalous voices.

ITCV: What’s your typical setup for a DRV session? Do you have any preferred equipment?

Cardoso: I typically use four or five powerful shortwave radios, tuned to different frequencies specifically reserved for the Spanish State, as I currently reside in Spain.

ITCV: How do you ensure the voices and messages received during DRV sessions are authentic?

Cardoso: The voices often call me by name, identifying themselves as my deceased relatives or even my dogs. They clearly state, We are the dead, or We speak from another dimension, which strongly validates their identities.

Research and Findings

ITCV: Who do you believe we are communicating with? What are some memorable messages you’ve received through DRV?

Cardoso: I firmly believe we are communicating with the deceased. One of the most touching messages came from my dog, Nisha, who engaged in a heartfelt dialogue with me.

ITCV: Have you noticed any patterns in the communications you’ve documented?

Cardoso: Absolutely. The DRV responses address nearly all aspects of human existence—life, death, and the conditions of their world. I've explored these themes extensively in my books, including Electronic Voices* and Glimpses of Another World, Impressions* and Reflections of an EVP Operator*. A significant feature is their insistence on identifying as we, often using phrases like We are all fused!

ITCV: How do you analyze the messages? Does this help you distinguish genuine communication from potential interference?

Cardoso: Given the reserved frequencies I use, there’s no risk of radio interference in my messages. The voices clearly articulate personal details, such as my name and family members' names. While I've done some analysis, I found it largely unnecessary, as my circumstances provide a strong foundation for authenticity. Additionally, my report, A Two-Year Investigation of the Allegedly Anomalous Electronic Voices or EVP*, published in NeuroQuantology*, includes various voice analyses.

Challenges and Skepticism

ITCV: What are some challenges you face during DRV sessions?

Cardoso: The biggest challenge is the uncertainty of whether the voices will appear during any session.

ITCV: How do you cope with skepticism or criticism from the scientific community regarding ITC?

Cardoso: I choose to ignore it for the most part. My comprehensive report was published in a peer-reviewed journal, which I believe should be sufficient validation. However, it seems that isn't always the case.

ITCV: Have you collaborated with scientists or researchers to study the phenomena you’ve recorded? What were the outcomes?

Cardozo: My report was supervised by scientists and high-level acoustic technicians. Notably, Professor Ernst Senkowski, a prominent figure in ITC, has been aware of my work and has followed it for many years.

Cardoso: My involvement in ITC has convinced me that all life continues in another dimension beyond time, as the voices have expressed.

Cardoso: Each experience has been transformative. I was agnostic for most of my life, but my worldview shifted as my communicators began answering my existential questions. I discovered parallels in experiences shared by other reputable ITC operators, reinforcing similar values. I now believe in an impersonal, nameless God and that life carries significant meaning and purpose, often intertwined with suffering, which is essential for spiritual growth.

ITCV: Has your work in ITC ever led to personal or professional conflicts?

Cardoso: Yes, particularly in my role as a diplomat, where everyone at the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not receive my claims of communicating with the dead well. While I faced some mockery and skepticism, nothing too dramatic occurred.

ITCV: How do you prepare yourself for a session?

Cardoso: I don’t have a specific routine, but I try to maintain emotional calmness, as my communicators have indicated that being upset can disrupt the flow of communication.

ITCV: What advice would you give someone just starting with ITC or DRV experiments?

Cardoso: Take it easy, but take it very seriously! Embrace your ITC experiments and trust that positive results can happen. Above all, never give up!

Future Directions

ITCV: What are your plans or goals for your research in ITC?

Cardoso: Currently, I don’t have specific plans. I continue my ITC work, focusing on digitizing recordings I couldn't manage during more active experimentation phases. I also have to write articles, respond to interview requests, and manage correspondence from those seeking advice.

ITCV: How do you envision the field of ITC evolving over the next decade?

Cardoso: It's challenging to predict. With the rise of AI, we need serious and reliable ITC and EVP operators. If AI becomes involved, we may face challenges regarding the veracity of public presentations, which we must avoid.

ITCV: Do you have any upcoming projects or publications you'd like to share with our readers?

Cardoso: I don’t have concrete plans at the moment.

ITCV: How important is collaboration in the ITC research community?

Cardoso: Collaboration is vital. We should strive to avoid unjustly defaming our colleagues and instead focus on reporting false recordings or pareidolic images that circulate online. Truth should guide our efforts.

Cardoso: If they adhere to the principles of honesty and integrity, these platforms can significantly help unite ITC operators and enthusiasts, guiding them on the right path.

Few people have made such a remarkable impact on instrumental trans-communication (ITC) in modern times as Ron Yacovetti. Ron possesses an unquenchable desire to explore the implications of the anomalous voices that have captivated humanity for centuries. These voices, echoed through shamanistic rituals, spiritual mediumship, and contemporary electronic methods, have led us back to our collective drawing boards to rethink the very essence of our existence. But Ron has something extra—perhaps a cultivated gift or a natural-born talent. He is an inspirational leader and an engaging speaker, known for his deft logic, kindness, and comedic prowess, which have endeared him to the ITC community. It is my pleasure to introduce to you the ITC voice of Ron Yacovetti.

Early Beginnings: The Spark of Interest

Ron Yacovetti’s journey into the world of the paranormal began in 2012 as a rookie investigator at the Glen Tavern Inn in Santa Paula, CA. Working alongside Debbie Constantino (RIP) and Chad Lindberg, Ron experienced a pivotal moment during a Spirit Box SB7 session. Among over thirty participants, the SB7 responded with "I know Chad" twenty seconds after Chad introduced himself. This instance of real-time contact solidified Ron’s fascination with ITC.

Ron soon acquired his first Spirit Box SB7, marking the beginning of his equipment collection. He frequently assisted investigations at the Oman House, infamous for its connection to the Manson/Tate murders. Here, his spirit box became a focal point, with homeowner David Oman encouraging investigation participants to follow Ron with it.

The Evolution of Equipment and Connections

In 2017, Ron’s journey took a significant turn when Gerard Mackie, his son’s stepfather, built him a portal box using a wooden guitar amplifier amidst the Huff Portal revolution in ITC. Over the years, Ron expanded his collection, acquiring ghost boxes from notable builders like Steve and Katie Hultay, Austin Maynard, and Jay Prather.

During his research, Ron discovered the works of Dr. Anabela Cardoso. Her writings, academic papers, and ITC journals profoundly influenced him, and they eventually became friends. Cardoso endorsed Ron’s first book and contributed to his docuseries Knowingly Talking to the Unknown. This endorsement was significant, as Cardoso had direct experience with pioneers of ITC like Jürgensen, Raudive, Bacci, Fontana, Foy, the Harsch-Fischbachs, and Ernst Senkowski—who coined the term ITC (TCI in Europe).

The Quest for Direct Radio Voice (DRV)

In early 2019, Ron and Lourdes Gonzalez embarked on replicating DRV results seen in the works of Cardoso, Bacci, and the Harsch-Fischbachs. They started with a Grundig world band radio and began experimenting with pure DRV. This led to an introduction to Keith J. Clark of varanormal.com, who was using software for live filtration—a technique Ron incorporated into his DRV sessions.

The DRV research continued behind closed doors for three years, focusing on replicating the results of pioneers. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Ron and Lourdes blended UHF, VHF, tone generators, and radios tuned to vacant LW, MW, and SW bands using a mixing board. This experimentation led to significant breakthroughs in ITC vocals, resulting in clearer and more coherent messages.

From DRV to Staticom: Breakthrough Moments

In 2021, Ron and Lourdes partnered with Tony and Cherie Rathman of EVPI. Tony, a seasoned ghost box builder, developed ITC devices solely for research purposes, making him an ideal collaborator. During a private investigation in Vernon, NJ, Ron captured a significant DRV response, hearing what he believed to be a message from his mother, which he later verified through slowed playback. This discovery paralleled the great Konstantin Raudive’s findings on EVP.

This research led to the evolution of DRV into what is now known worldwide as Staticom. Two major breakthroughs underscored this transition:

1. Conducting DRV sessions in an abandoned zinc mine in New Jersey, devoid of radio signals, yet successfully capturing DRV voices.

2. Tony Rathman’s implementation of a sleep machine as a white noise source during a live audience session at a Paracon in AZ, further validating that RF or carrier wave reception isn't necessary for ITC.

The removal of the radio from DRV sessions led to the development of using pure white noise, now known worldwide as Staticom. Staticom addressed skepticism that ITC responses were merely from radio broadcasts, highlighting the role of stochastic resonance in facilitating spirit voices.

Public Engagement and Legacy

On March 4, 2022, Ron and Lourdes held their first public event under TDSi: The Digital Seance Initiative. This live event allowed the public to experience DRV/Staticom in a group setting, promoting collective focus akin to Victorian seances. The positive impact was evident, with many attendees finding closure and solace from their experiences.

In August 2013, Manchester revolutionized ITC with “The White Box” (Version 1.0). This device wasn’t merely an instrument but a breakthrough in portable ITC performance, thanks to its “Green Sweep Circuit Design.” It delivered unmatched audio clarity and smooth scanning, enhancing ITC sessions significantly. Its adjustable sweep speed and reception tuning quickly made it popular among both amateurs and researchers.

Despite its success, Manchester continued to take new measures, discontinuing The White Box Version 1.0 to further refine the technology.

The Pinnacle: The White Box Version 2.0

The release of The White Box Version 2.0 on June 29, 2015, introduced the “Red Sweep Circuit Design,” marking another advance with smoother scanning and more efficient performance. Despite minor differences in resistance from its predecessor, the improvements made it highly desirable in the ITC community.

Unexpectedly, Manchester ceased production of this version after a limited run, making Version 2.0 units rare and highly valued.

Greg Manchester is the creator of The White Box, a compact radio-based ITC instrument designed to bring new levels of quality, clarity, and consistency to the ghost box operator. The White Box boasts incredible audio clarity and sweep circuit performance, greatly excelling at providing the operator with a pleasant listening experience during ITC sessions. With the ability to alter tuning to dial in the best reception in a given area, The White Box makes an equally strong showing as an ITC research tool at home or on location.

This particular model is slightly different from its Version 1.0 predecessors, as it incorporates a new sweep circuit and relocated power switch. Although there is only a 1. 2k difference in resistance from the green sweep circuit (used in The White Box version 1.0) to the red sweep circuit (used in The White Box version 2.0 Prototype), the red sweep circuit has a better design and offers more efficient, smoother scanning performance for the ITC operator.

Greg decided to discontinue The White Box Version 2.0 after building only a few units, some in white or orange enclosures. This particular prototype model may be the last White Box prototype to be manufactured, and it is the only one with the “red” sweep circuit design.

His journey in this realm began around 2009 as a Windows application developer and a Quality Assurance manager, coupled with a deep-seated passion for the paranormal.

Initial ITC Developments

Bellefeuille’s initial foray into ITC started with the creation of XParanormal Detector, a personal project he shared with a small group of ghost hunters. This application evolved significantly and was publicly released in 2011, marking the beginning of Bellefeuille’s indelible impact on the ITC community.

Innovative Software and Early Successes

His innovative approach led to the development of VR-Ghostbox in 2014, emulating the functionalities of the PSB-7 in a Windows application. That same year, he released Phasma Communicator and XParanormal Spirit Radio. Bellefeuille recalled the now-discontinued XParanormal Spirit Radio as “the first application on the market that used real internet radio as the source of communication with the spirits of the dead — which proved very popular in the ITC community.”

Advancements in ITC Technologies

In the following years, Bellefeuille relentlessly pursued the advancement of ITC technologies. In 2015, he released Phasmabox Premium, which, to his delight, “is still the #1 Windows application for spirit communication.” Phasmabox Premium gained prominence when featured in ghost-hunting TV shows such as “Paranormal Lockdown“ and “Ghost Brothers.” Collaborations with other ITC pioneers like Greg Manchester led to the creation of Infinity Box GBX, followed by a variant, Infinity Box EXP, and later, a Reux version in 2019 with more advanced features that allowed users to choose sound banks and offered complete customizability. In 2016, he collaborated with Anthony Mark to release the free Afterlight Box, further enriching the ITC software landscape.

Recent Innovations and Software Launches

2017 was a remarkable year marked by the launch of Quantum Box, which offered unique features such as virtual effects pedals and the flexibility to use custom sound banks. The year also saw the introduction of Phasmabox Otium, the second iteration of Phasmabox Premium.

In 2018, Bellefeuille introduced Armania, focusing on the emotional aspects of spirit communication. This software enabled spirits to express themselves through various means, including ghost box components and internal facial pictures expressing emotions.

Emerging Technologies in ITC

The innovation continued with the release of the Elysian ITC Application in 2020, the Spectral-X Paranormal app in 2021, and the Scryer ITC Application in 2022. These applications introduced new dimensions to ITC, from simplified session processes to novel methods of expressing themselves with sound banks and visually through spectral view displays (spectrogram), AI liquid display, and smoke simulation. These applications, based on the theory that a ghost or spirit is an intelligent energy capable of influencing the electronics of a computer, allow the intelligent energy to interact with the readouts and communicate through the applications. These concepts, combined with traditional spirit box features, exemplify Bellefeuille’s innovations in electronic gadget communication.

Also in 2020, Bellefeuille donated a software program titled Spektrocom to METAscience Foundation for the benefit of paranormal and ITC experimenters around the world, showing once again his willingness to further the ITC field through collaboration and cooperation.

A Milestone with Angelux Redux

2023 marked another milestone for eXtremeSenses with the release of Angelux Redux, the revamped version of the original Angelus ITC Application (2017). This first video ITC software for Windows, featuring video sweeping, represented a visionary step in visual spirit communication software.

Martin Bellefeuille: A Beacon in ITC Research

Throughout his career, Bellefeuille has continuously pursued technological advancement in ITC. His contributions are significant not only in terms of technical innovation but also in broadening the understanding of paranormal phenomena. Beyond being an ITC software developer, occasionally he ventures out as a paranormal investigator to some renowned Canadian haunted sites, such as Fairmont Château Laurier and the Bytown Museum. Bellefeuille believes these experiences contribute to the continuous evolution of ITC and his endeavors to bridge technology and the ethereal in the pursuit of meaningful spirit communication. Bellefeuille’s work serves as a beacon for future ITC researchers and enthusiasts, encouraging further exploration in this intriguing and ever-evolving field.
